But, then if you were to listen to or read the news in China, everything is good news about China.  Everything is "harmonious."  In China, if I want to hear news about the West, everything is bad, bad, bad.

of course!!! always easier to find fault in others than find fault in self. west criticize china because easier to blame china recognize own fault

It works the other way around, too!  I've noticed plenty of finger pointing at the West from China as well.

do you have some example of china blame the west for its problems? maybe in old times china blames the west for slow development, but #1 that's true! (opium wars, japanese aggression) and #2 this hasn't been spoken recently because now china develops faster than any western country

but i can think of many examples of the west blaming china:
1. tibet
response: what about rights of american indians? what about rights of black slaves? both still live like second class citizens
3. human rights and democracy
response: this is so hypocritical.. how many democratically elected governments did america ALONE help to overthrow for its own interest?
Mossadegh (Iran, 1953)
Arbenz (Guatemala, 1954)
Velasco (Ecuador 1961)
Arosemena (Ecuador 1963)
Bosch (Dominican Republic, 1963)
Goulart (Brazil, 1964)
Sukarno (Indonesia, 1965)
Papandreou (Greece, 1965)
Allende (Chile, 1973)

these actions have produced civil wars in vietnam and indonesia. produced massacres by army against civials in guatemala and chile. in indochina france came to fight AGAINST local population struggling for independence. in philippines america came to fight AGAINST local population struggling for independence.

yet the west still criticizes china? unbelievable...

It seems a bit unfair to blame "the West" for a bunch of actions of the US government...

Still, nobody is characterizing "the East" based on the sole actions of e.g. Japan...
