I Am Who I Am

I am asked "Who are you?"
Some will say their name,
But I can have any name.
Some will say their race,
But of what race am I?
Some will say their religion,
But I belong to every one.
Some will say their color.
But I am every color.
Some will say their gender.
But I can be either one.
Some will say their culture,
But I can study each one.
Some will say everything.
Some will say nothing.
But all I will say is
"I am who I am."

Native American poem

Hold on to what is good,
even if it's a handful of earth.

Hold on to what you believe,
Even if it's a tree that stands by itself.

Hold on to what you must do,
Even if it's a long way from here.

Hold on to your life,
Even if it's easier to let go.

Hold on to my hand,
Even if I've gone away from you.

poetic scean and lyric

童年的岁月难忘妈妈的小背篓
多少欢乐多少爱
多少思念多少情
妈妈那回头的笑脸至今甜在我心头
甜在我心头
啊--啊--啊

Little Back-Basket

In the little back-basket dangling from side to side
mother carried me down from the tilted house with merry laugh
it's the first time that i was in the mountain tasting the wild fruit
it's the first time that i was in a clear creek bathing the baby hands
it's the first time that I went for a fair admist the hills
it's the first time that i was on river shores watching dragon boat racing
my childhood my unforgettable mother's little back-basket

in the little back-basket neat and round
mother carried me down from the tilted house with songs
so many times at my grandmother's home we bake buns
so many times i heard folk songs at the bridge's head
so many times when sleeping in mother's basket i wet her clothes
so many times i climbed out of it to walk around on bare feet

my childhod my unforgettable mother's little back-basket
so much joy and love
so much affection
and feeling the moment when mother turned to look at me smiling
i still remember it in the recesses of my mind
