China's National Health Commission Monday vowed to take preventive and control measures against Category A infectious diseases to effectively battle pneumonia caused by novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).
Pneumonia has been classified as a Category B infectious disease which can be quarantined at the borders, read an announcement released by the Commission.
As of Tuesday, 219 cases of pneumonia caused by novel coronavirus have been confirmed in Chinese cities, including Wuhan, Shanghai and Beijing. Cases have also been reported in Japan, Thailand and South Korea.
Medical staff are at the forefront in the prevention and control of the epidemic stemming from the new type of coronavirus that was first reported in Wuhan City, central China's Hubei Province, in December 2019, where it might have originated at a seafood market.
While the govt's move to isolate Wuhan from the rest of China by restricting ppl in and out of Wuahn, is good, it is not strong enough, it is not mandatory yet. It should be made mandatory, can't depend on the goodwill of the ppl! There ae still many idiots who take the risk to visit their relatives in Wuhan and ended up infected, then carrying the virus to other cities! In a tough situation like this, tough action is needed! A softly softly approach spells trouble for all!

Well done the Chinese disease prevention authority. Now we must turn our attention to the cause and ...
Problem is that the Govt is reactive, rather than pro-active; long before this virus struck it was not actively taking action against ppl who flout the law, slaughtering poultry in public, with blood and feather flying all over, a health hazard; or ppl slaughtering sick pigs illegally in backlanes and selling pork to markets, etc etc. Reacting only after virus struck is too late, and too costly a delay in acting!
