To support HK’s economy is not a wise word, better to say to rejuvenate HK economy by working together with HK government. Integrate HK economy supply-side policy and expansionary policy with the mainland, that is removing the HK autonomy. Beijing should take in at least 50% of HK population into mainland thus reducing overpopulation and property prices in HK that will benefit HK in the long run, as per capitalism theory of supply and demand. Beijing  should also provide socialism/communism into HK capitalist system with subsidies, donations, government aid, setup GLCs for the sake of unemployment/career and free items (had been done in various communist nation) for HK poor and middle class.

From your prescription it is obvious the HK system under the 'One Country Two Systems' is not working as well as the Mainland system!  How about 'One County One System'?

If rioting and chaos does not stop, HK could end up as a basket case!  It is aready facing a recession, hardly any tourist arrivals, businesses are poor, hotels are empty, even disocunted rates have no takers!  Very bleak future indeed; rioters have destroyed HK's economy, turning it into an empty shell!

Even assuming you are right, what is the point for raking up the past? Which country has a perfect past?  Surely you know that China has turned the corner and is now the world's second largest economy and it has lifted millions of people out of poverty?  And all in a matter of decades!  Isn't this worthy of mention too?

Is HK worth saving? Looks like the rioting will not stop soon, and with that, the economy is destroyed; China might as well focus on building up Shenzhen nextdoor!

That is precisely a vital issue in modern day China: it almost completely refuses any self-examination of its past history out of embarrassment for its "wrong turnings" and continued refusal to admit any errors or misdeeds in the present. It has to be always seen as keeping face and blaming others - most often western countries - when events do not go the "right" way. If you can't learn the lessons of the past and face up to them, then you are bound to repeat them.
