Eating, drinking on Beijing subway will affect personal credit record

(Xinhua) Passengers found eating or drinking on the Beijing subway who do not stop when asked will face having their actions noted on their social credit score starting Wednesday, according to Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport.

According to the Beijing subway passenger regulations which went into effect on Wednesday, passengers except for infants and those with medical conditions will not be allowed to eat or drink on the subway. Violators who do not stop after being asked to will be asked to get off.

The violation will also be recorded in the violators' credit record. The violator will be able to correct it by volunteering at subway stations.

The regulations also banned behavior such as one passenger occupying more than one seat and product promoting.

Some think drinking and eating should not be categorized as uncivilized behavior, so long as it doesn't smell too strongly or disturb other passengers. They say the new regulation is too strict. What do you think? Do you support drinking or eating on the subway? Are the new penalties resonable? Compared with levying a fine, which do you think is more effective?

Methinks it is overdue, but still beter late than never. Too many irresponsible commuters eating and drinking with impunity!  Fine is not enough, social credit must be affected too, both together make good deterrent!
Should be implemented throughout China, not just limited to BJ!

some say if the smell is not too bad........there is a pink hot dog style sausage here which lets out a very strong smell.........passengers on buses always board  with one of those pink sausages in their hands. its a really strong smell......you may have ate it before.....

Only stupid irresponsible ppl would support eating and drinking onboard, with silly excuses that "if the smell is not too bad" it is ok.  It is not just the smell but the food crumbs left over which attract vermins like rats and roaches which can disrupt the system, not to mention flies which can be so irritating to commuters hanging around your face!

Yes I know of that sausage with a strong stench!  I never touch it though!  Horrible smell that permeates the whole cabin!  Ban it onboard, like all the rest!  And then there are those who eat that smelly fruit durian onboard too!  Time to enforce the law strictly throughout China!
