Let the record show that push has come to shove.

Both the agricultural and industrial sectors of the American economy are going to suffer.

Agriculture -- the soy bean federation in Kansas City has already warned Trump not to do what he did.

Industry -- Chinese spare parts are a must for many American industries.  The supply chain cannot be easily replaced or else they would have tried to find a replacement source a long time ago.

America has just suffered a huge blow to its own economy, thanks to the likes of "professor of business" like Peter Navarro.

We don't want this to happen to the U.S., but China is given no choice but to retaliate.

The talks haven't been formally ended yet he has started to ramp up his tariffs and thus reduced all ...

Liu might have to be substituted in future negotiations.

I wonder who's going to be his replacement.

It will still be an exercise in futility. One is no longer sanguine anything will come out of it:

1. what was supposed to be an agreement on trade has been expanded by the US (and slyly) to include legal and sovereign matters which as anyone with a brain will conclude are totally outside the jurisdiction of any other country;

2. therefore if China relents, the same modus operandi of (1) will be extended to include over time other things, eg. "if you can agree to our demand to change your laws, we can next demand you relinquish any claims to territories outside your present coastline if you want to remain in our good books".

Didn't the old one from Shaoshan village once alluded to the "foibles of human duplicity" when Kissinger visited him?

And Bannon's list in wsj clearly shows in one item his utter Sinophobic racism and prejudice against China despite he having visited Beijing in person to witness for himself the pro-government sentiments on the ground. He is just an unshaven version of Pence who in turn is just a thinner version of the pompous Pompeo who in turn would look silly of wearing a walrusian moustache of the neocon hawk Bolton who even his boss had asked whether he wanted to egg him on to sign and start a war over Venezuela after failing to do so in the Middle East (or was it Syria? no matter).  Add Navarro, Pillsbury, Rubio and Schumer, and the circus is almost complete for you to conclude Lighthizer and Mnuchin won't matter.
