At the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, Japan's Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, will pay an official visit to China from Oct 25 to 27. It will be the first time a Japanese prime minister will travel to China for a bilateral meeting since December 2011. It has been laued by some experts, saying the visit will be an ice-breaker and Sino-China ties be back on track. The meeting will commemorate the fortieth anniversary of the Japan-China Peace and Friendship Treaty as well as provide a forum for companies from both countries to discuss how they can cooperate in places where China has extended its “Belt and Road” Initiative. Are China and Japan are getting ready to thaw the decade-long chill in their relationship? What lies ahead for the bilateral ties in the coming years?

The guy is visiting under invitation from China, so may have no impact on china japan relation. However China should be cautious on belt and road initiative so as not to be too generous like what happen to most developed countries from the 70s to late 2010s with so much assistance to third world countries but no assistance receive from third world countries.

From an economic point of view, it is in Japan's interest to return a normal relationship with China in the face of its economic recession and US rising protectionism. Acutally it is a win-win situation for both countries to maintain a good and stable relationship. As the bilateral relations go back to normal, it is perhaps possible that the US’ regional power would recede.

Difficult to say that anything is thawing.

Many Japanese politicians flocked to honor the 14 war criminals at the Yasukuni Shrine even after Premier Li visited Japan, although none of Abe's cabinet ministers were amongst them.

This goes to show that it's not going to be easy -- after all, Premier Li went to Japan without any official apologies coming from Japan before the visit.  As I see it, the stalemate should have been broken from the Japanese side with an appropriate gesture.  Since none was forthcoming an China's 2025 Plan was hanging in the balance, practical imperatives overshadow any historical considerations.

The Japanese delegation consists of no less than 500 business moguls in a hurry to re-establish commercial ties with China -- ties which had been broken by U.S. interference through political meddling on island sovereignty non-issues.  It is the familiar divide-and-rule gimmick used by Western imperialists to prevent cooperation between the world's second and third largest economies.

China is likely to ink several major deals with Japan over the sale of high-tech products.  Since the Americans don't want to engage in such trade with China, Japan will reap huge commercial benefits from the commercial interaction.

In other words, The Japanese will sell us buckets of fish but won't teach us any fishing technology, so to speak, in the high-tech industries without exacting a very high price.

They are unlikely to make state-of-the-art technology readily available to China, and so the meaning of the new ties will be limited at best.

A typo found and I don't want to edit it to prevent its being sent back to the filters.
