Trump is literally at the mercy of his foes in and outside of his party.  One senator just went on sick leave at the 11th hour.  Another is balking why child care tax rebates are so low.  Who knows, another may flip for any reason.  Watching the trend of what is happening, Trump should not put too much weight on the tax reform bill passing.  He should asssume it won't.  And may never.  If it appears that tax reform will make America great again, then even more than ever, he should assume someone would not let it happen.  Come Monday, Trump should prepare for the worst.  No tax reform.  Then what?  His followers will have to conclude that he is a failed leader - failed in repealing Obamacare, failed in building the wall, failed in improving ties with Russia, failed in destroying North Korea (like he threatened to do), failed in making Moore win in Alabama, and now, failed in giving everyone his promised Christmas gift of more than a thousand dollars, or at least a few hundred dollars, to the middle class back bone of his MAGA movement.

And, at some point, Trump will have to realize that not all obstacles or problems can be solved with a deal.  At some point, Trump will realize that his commitment to a deal, and his pride in his ability to make deals, can be taken advantaged of by others, who simply have to refuse to deal, or even break one, to get him on his knees, or to throw him off balance entirely.  In judo, Trump has one foot planted on the ground, and wants to dance with the other foot.  No way.

At some point, Trump will have to LEARN other fighting techniques, like the Flying Kick of Bruce Lee, and change his rules of engagement.  Trump is too civilized to do the many things he threatened to do, or needed to do, for his own survival even.  One question that many of his supporters are beginning to ask, is, if Trump cannot save himself, how can he save America?  He would need to study the lives of other leaders and their approaches to various problems, not to imitate their mistakes, but to avoid them, and improve on their solutions.  Trump learned to be unpredictable, but he has not yet learned to be unstoppable.  This requires total sustained concentration for months and for years.  From the Art of the Deal, he may have to move on to the Art of War.

Finally, almost a senate vote, but then a glitch requiring a house re-vote in the morning.  Then the final senate vote.  Why all the stalling?  What are they really waiting to happen?

There is a very real possibility someone will sink the senate vote by tomorrow.

Honestly, nobody knows if the tax reform bill will really be better than the status quo.  It is too complicated to figure out.  So, somebody is tripping this up, and very skilllfully at that, buying time to change the senate vote.
