Education is highly competitive in China and Gaokao is not easy  ---for entering Chinese universities. However, most students are so tired completing high school that University takes secondary status-------emphasis must be on focusing on a balanced life and life long learning and a system stimulating thought and creativity---not repeating same mantras.

One drawback is US schools are extremely liberal and often teach misaligned facts of their comfort bias.
A second is context.  Most high school and many colleges in the US still, for example, teach 19th c physics - yes 19th - in addition to not teaching beyond the basics until college.  All this means is college is less than it should be - watered down to make great the uneducated.  
A third drawback is the US consistently falls lower and lower on overall education in globe.
And one takeaway is for China to invest in upgrading their universities to the astonishment of all.
