The total number of Chinese homeport cruise ship travelers reached 2.22 million passenger trips in 2015, and China's cruise industry is set to grow faster in the next decade, a report said.

China should explore building river cruise ships just as large and all inclusive as those sea cruise ships. Technology-wise this is entirely possible and feasible. This will significantly boost China's river tourism on the country's three main rivers and at the same time provide much need jobs for its shipyards. Current river cruise ships on China's rivers are too small and do not have enough facilities on board to capture customers' consumption dollars. For example, swimming pools, sports facilities and even gaming casinos etc. can be considered.
