After China joined the WTO and had an economic boom, the world was looking forward to China inventing and discovering all sorts of cool stuff for the world to use, but China has completely failed in this.|
But it is strange: the Chinese do work extremely hard to try to innovate: they no doubt put in more hours of study and labor than any other culture to try to succeed in being innovators, but still completely fail.
Even when they buy IBM and change the name to Lenovo, they still can't do anything new with the products. Lenovo has not done any innovation by offering something completely new and useful: they just follow the lead of HP and Dell.
Is this due to a genetic trait? While the Chinese are no doubt smart, they can only use their high intelligence for conventional things, but not for innovation and discovery.
So, the world will still have to rely on non-Chinese companies to innovate and discover, companies like Apple, Boeing, Intel, AMD, Micron, AirBus, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Microsoft, Toyota, Honda, Samsung, Canon, Sony, and so forth.
