Thirteen Confirmed Dead in Oregon Shooting

A gunman opened fire at Oregon’s Umpqua Community College in the U.S. Thursday, 13 confirmed dead, more than 20 others injured.
The shooter opened fire in one building and then moved to another. The shooting took place in at least two classrooms.
The shooter is now in custody.
Police are examining a social media account that is said to be of the suspect’s, CNN cites a source with knowledge of the investigation.
With 17 shootings on college campuses this year, is US the ideal place to further your studies? I would give it a second thought before making decisions.

They've revised the death toll down to just 9 with the gunman making it 10.

Doesn't that make you feel better?
Probably not. Having been born in the USA I know what parts to avoid and what situations are best left alone.
A foreigner coming here to go to college is at the mercy of the predators. At lot of colleges are in dangerous
parts of cities and there are plenty of places on campus to commit crimes and get away with it.

  • One in three people in the U.S. know someone who has been shot.
  • On average, 31 Americans are murdered with guns every day and 151 are treated for a gun assault in an emergency room.
  • Every day on average, 55 people kill themselves with a firearm, and 46 people are shot or killed in an accident with a gun.
  • The U.S. firearm homicide rate is 20 times higher than the combined rates of 22 countries that are our peers in wealth and population.
  • A gun in the home is 22 times more likely to be used to kill or injure in a domestic homicide, suicide, or unintentional shooting than to be used in self-defense.

If capitalism promotes innovation and creativity then why aren't scientists and artists the richest people in a capitalist nation?

Denial, according the psychoanalysts, is one of the most primary mechanisms of defense. It consists in the attitude of denying or minimizing obvious facts of reality with which the individual can´t  cope or whose irresponsibility is unable to meet.

And I agree.
