Sounds like a good read.  I will look for it.  There is no democracy at anything other than a very small local level.  As soon as large numbers of people get involved, influence peddling takes over, mostly on behalf of the rich and already powerful.  The original American democracy included the idea of a knowledgeable set of voters, and much simpler issues than exist today.  Most Americans are poorly educated in how government works and what the issues are, and the politicians and rich prefer it that way.  My two cents.
