TIME FOR THE PHILIPPINES TO ABANDON DRUM-BEATING USING ITS FOREIGN MASTERS AND PAY ATTENTION TO ITS OWN UNREASONABLE DEMANDS.

In contrast to China's fact-filled explanation of why China has historically incontrovertible sovereignty over the South China Sea islands, the explanations of the Philippines consist of only two items, both of which are even untrue, namely:

1.  That Mr. Tomas "discovered" the Spratly Islands in 1956, after the Japanese had invaded them in 1939, and officially ceded them back to China in 1945, after the Republic of China had planted its flag on the main island of the Spratly chain in 1946, claiming they were owned by nobody, including the Philippines.  Now, figure out how it could be claimed by the Philippines as its sovereign territory in 1956.

2.  That these islands by virtue of being within 200 nautical miles of the coast of Palawan, became part of the Philippines sovereign territory, by virtue of falling under its EEZ IF they were not already owned by other countries, which is clearly prohibited by the UNCLOS - EEZ does not confer sovereignty.  These islands already belonged to China, and were never ceded by China to the Philippines.

Rome has published a 45-dash-line encompassing roughly 90 % of the whole Mediterranean Sea.It has declared the Sea and all islands in it as its indisputable sovereign territory. To enforce it's claim it has given order to its coast guard and marine ships, to ram all foreign ships and shower them with water canons. Rome is basing it's rights on the Mediterranean Sea on historic grounds. Actually it claims to be too much generous, since it could claim much more than that. Furthermore it is telling to all relevant countries that they have nothing to fear if they only recognize the rightful and legal claims of the newly rising Roman Empire.

You might have a point.  China might have been the first to discover the Philippines, two thousand years ago.
