Time for Taiwan and China to talk about cooperation and reunification, on equal terms, because if they do unite, there is no doubt that the duo will dominate the entire East Asia region.

Taiwan should desist from asking China to give it "international space" which is the same as asking China to recognize Taiwan as an independent sovereign country.  There is nothing wrong with equality, until such equality implies there is no "One China".  You cannot ask China to sit down and talk with you across the table, while insisting that there must be two tables.  One table, one China.  Two tables, two China.  Equal tables, means Two China's, which contradicts Taiwan's own acceptance of the 1992 Consensus that there is only One China.  Chiang Kaishek understood this principle, and he preferred to lose the seat in the UN than accept two China's which the elder Bush was encouraging him to do.  Chiang did the right thing.  Ma should not undo the right, in order to do the wrong.  If Ma and Chu are sincere adherents of the KMT mission, which is to keep China as one country.  Faulting China for not giving Taiwan equal status as an independent cuontry is a sign of insincerity, and frivolousness, that should not be attempted between brothers bound by the same blood and same ancestry.  Equality under unity, not under division, is clearly the theme of the 1992 Consensus, and should not be changed by playing with words and semantics, if real benefits are to be derived from it.
