The latest espionage activity, in which Canadian Kevin Garratt and his wife were jointly accused of illegally collecting secret information in northeast China’s Liaoning Province for a long time, has further alarmed the public to assume their responsibilities and be alert in the consistent fight against spying from external forces.
Recent years have seen rising number of foreign nationals or their domestic agents who have engaged in espionage and garnering top classified information in terms of military, politics, commerce and other fields, according to a statement recently released by China’s Ministry of State Security.
It is believed that these espionage activities have severely undermined the sovereignty and security of China because collected classified information about China is expected to be taken into account by foreign Intelligence Agencies when making their foreign policies and military actions against China.
Meanwhile, foreign intelligent agencies have spared no efforts to help their agents or Chinese substitutes penetrate into Chinese military departments or other similar organizations.
Therefore, all of us are expected to make unique contributions to the fight against espionage activities and keep silence for what we know from other people without formal approval.
