An exhibition of Ink-Stone

May 18 marks the International Museum Day. An exhibition highlighting ink-stone relics opened to the public from April 26 to July 31 in the first floor of Yueqing Museum, Zhejiang Province. 


More than 150 selected ink-stone relics from the Han Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty are on display during the exhibition. Most of them date back to Tang and Song Dynasty, 12 were before Tang Dynasty, 6 during Liao and Jin Dynasties, and 19 during Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. Some are round-shaped, some are three-or four legged, or square, with cover, or shaped into beautiful object, such as fish tail shaped ink-stone. They are made of Stone, pottery, porcelain, lacquer, wood, jade, bronze, or copper, etc..

Ink-stone, one of the four treasures of the study, cannot be neglected when we appreciate and understand Chinese calligraphy and traditional painting. The exhibition provideslocal citizen a chance to know more about our culture. Some school organized students to pay a  visit and study. Look at the pictures kids drew, it is a perfect combination of history and art.
