A book report about The Kite Runner
2015-12-01
The Kite Runner was published in 2003,and it was the first novel published in English by an author from Afghanistan. The author of the book is Khaled Hosseini, who born in 1964 in Kabul, then with his father fled to the United State. Hosseini graduated from the University of California,San Diego Department of medicine, now living in California licensed.
The Kite Runner tells the story of Amir,a well-to -do Pashtun boy from the Wazir Akbar district of Kabul, who is haunted by the guilt of betraying his childhood friend Hassan, the son if his father's Hazara servant. The story is set against a backdrop of tumultuous events, from the fall of the monarchy in Afghanistan through the Soviet invasion, the mass exodus of refugee to Pakistan and the United State, and the Taliban regime.
I am convinced that a few books are as good as this one. To be honest, I hadn't maintained that this book would appeal to me before I read it. Why this has appealed to me that much? At first, the friendship in this book fascinated me.To the world you are one person, but to the person who loves you,you are the world. So the friendship between Hassan and Amir moved me. Secondly, owing to this book let me know a suffered ravaged unknown to the public of the Afghan nation. People in that district are lost in death and fear, then I think I should cherish life, cherish time and treasure friendship, cherish everything I have. Last but not least,The Kite Runner told the warmth and cruelty, beautiful and suffering,it not only shows a person's spiritual growth history, also shows the soul of a nation's history,a history of a country's suffering.
At the same time, the book could have been better if the author gave us a clear ending whether Sohrab came into life again. However,I'm sure that love can cure everything.
I believe all the people who read it is going to be touched just as I am. This book does make me think the good and the bad, what's wrong and what's right, the cruelty of war. Few can exert an influence on people nowadays, this book sure does.
