SERIOUS AND POLITE POLITICAL DISCUSSIONS

I enjoy political discussion that is civil and serious where the aim is not simply to promote one point of view. Though I do trade personal barbs sometimes, what I really want to promote is an exchange of opinion in which there is a real effort to seek workable compromises between diverse viewpoints. Two attempts by me to achieve this failed. There seemed to be a lack of interest. Could the Moderators advise me on what they think would be an acceptable format with guidelines about the suggested rules of behavior? And could some of the more politically-oriented members make their own recommendations? I would promise to avoid all personal insults. This blog would be open to ALL ideological views from left to right. The underlying philosophy would be the desirability of seeking compromise and understanding for the future betterment of humanity.
