Psychogenic eating disorder with fear of being overweight, disturbed body image, denial.
Prevalent ages 10 – 25yrs.
Prevalence: 1% of all females, 0.08% of all males.
Causes cachexia (extreme weight-loss), mortality 10%

Why do they do this to themselves?

of course, that is a disease. a spirital disease. but, at the beginning, they normally want to have a good shape. then they begin eat less.little by little, the disease arise from the habit. mental disease doctors can help to solve their problems. of course, i don't think all of such patiets can be cured completely. no. everything has exception. few of them will die of lacking of nutrition. sad. painful.but, we can do nothing about it.
