Celebrity sex tape: Is it Right to Make Money?

A lot of American celebrities have made sex tapes of themselves performing sex acts.

They then "release" it on the internet to try and make money.

Should they be alloed to do this or should they be banned?

no not really a good one... Have you seen it? I've seen it and its very low quality of porn in my mind. If it was at least a good one that showed more of her... although she's only skin and bones anyway and I like my women with a bit of curves.

is it legal that porm footage is released on the internet? if so,it also applies to the celebrity sex tape released on the internet.celebrity shares the same right with the folk.
BTW,i hate Paris Hilton.the pics tarnish her image more

Well, in the US you can't really ban people from doing that. I think it's a stupid move and should be discouraged, but if that's what they want to be known for (and usually they are), then the burden is theirs to bear.

It seems to be illegal in some cases.

The ex-husband of model Carolyn Murphy, Jake Schroeder allegedly tried to sell a tape featuring him and his ex-wife having sex during their honeymoon in 1999 while in Barbados.

In January 2006 Schroeder was arrested and charged with extortion for trying to sell the tape.

The video was leaked onto the internet in April 2006.

Yeah there is no point in watching them. But I usually get curious and then waste another hour of my life just to prove to myself that they still haven't improved!

A little clarification....

MOST of these celebrity sex tapes started off as personal sex tapes that were actually stolen and copied by a dishonest "friend", maid or someone else who had access to their houses. There is a quirk in US law that allows video like this to be distributed as long as it isn't copywrited.

These celbrities generally made these tapes for personal use and ever intended the public to see them. I'll bet you that many of us have either pictures or video of ourselves and our gf's or bf's like this also - though few will probably admit it.

So the moral of these stories is to keep these things in a safe deposit box at the bank if you are a celebrity and you have a maid or housekeeper who has access to your personal things....

Ugh, totally... can you imagine how the potential offspring of Paris Hilton (scary thought!) or the like would feel one day in high school when his/her friends discovered the tape? What a nightmare!

I think that some of them deliberately "release" it for publicity.

A sex tape of figure skater Tonya Harding and her husband Jeff Gillooly was leaked to the internet and subsequently became so widely available that the couple decided to legitimately release it on their own.

It is commercially sold as as the "Wedding Night" tape, although the wedding gown was actually a Halloween costume.

Stills from the tape were published by Penthouse in September 1994, and the tape itself was released at about the same time. Harding tried to distance herself from it by asserting publicly that she was "drunk as a skunk" while the tape was being made.

BTW For those of you that don't remember Tonya Harding, she was the ice skater that tried to take her competition Nancy Kerrigan out of the picture by getting a bunch of goons (including then husband Jeff Gillooly) to whack another ice skater (called Kerrigan) knee with a pipe.

In most cases the couple dont TRY to sell the video its just somebody steals it and starts giving it away for free so then they try to sell it to at least make some money from their embarrassment. Its not like its their big business idea! Except in the case of Paris Hilton I suspect that she probably had something to do with the leak as it was this leak that made her a really well known face out of a nobody.

Its not only the American celebrities that do this.British celebrities do it as well:

British TV personality Abi Titmuss appears in a sex tape featuring herself, her ex-TV presenter boyfriend John Leslie, and another woman (Lady Bree Westmoreland-Smith of Belleview, Michigan) that "found" its way onto the Internet.
