When Taiwan unites, Should Chen Shui Bian be tried in Chinese court for treason?
I am confident that Taiwan will return to China within the next decade whether by military force or peaceful unification. So once Taiwan reunites with China, should Chen Shui Bian and his DDP party members be tried in Chinese court for treason? And what should be his punishment?

Unfortunately for you, Taiwan will never willingly allow China control of its judicial system. So if there was peaceful unification, you would never have the chance.
If China invaded Taiwan, trying Chen for treason would just make him a martyr and make Taiwanese even more likely to resist Chinese occupation.

If China has to take back Taipei by force, there will not be any trial.
All Taiwan officials will somehow be snatched by UFO, and life will go on as usual.
God blesses all,

I don't think we'll be able to charge Chen Shuibian as he will flee before the reunification or after sensing pro-China sentiments are growing in the province.
John B: "the murder and torture of millions of Chinese citizens from the "GLF" through to 1989"
A false statement.

Remember that Chen Shui-bian did not become a president out of the blue! He is a product of a long, democratic process in Taiwan and he has been elected by millions of taiwanese people. He is merely a mouthpiece of the pro-independence movement i Taiwan and therefore it would give no sense at all to try him if(!) China and Taiwan ever will unite.

Calm Down upyours! The ravings you are being given by china mainlanders, are matters of national pride - and nothing more. On 3 seperate occassions now, China has threatened possible armed conflict, and 3 times now has not done so. Their is a reason - and anyone who has a lick of sense knows this.
Although the future of Taiwan is uncertain, till negotiation and diplomacy are expended, Taiwan remains independant !

that question is the same as asking if after unification, assuming the political system of taiwan was allowed most political power, should the leader of the mainland be tried for treason

DDP say what it wants, China is a free-speech country (check your constitution).
And if you want reunification, it means that Taiwan is not Chinese (???) Then why would they obey Chinese law??? And what Chinese law are they not inforcing? Displeasing your nationalistic feelings?
I just don't get it. Is there any logic in all this crap about Taiwan?
