Are farmers really being respected in china, nowadays?

I'm amazed at a saying going among foreigners:farmers in china is well respected.i can't remember where and when this sentence concluded from the surface come into my eyes, but it's definately wrong and misunderstanding.by what reason can it say farmers have high position in china?look at  farmers with poor-living standard, scorching and itching chilblained hands, living in storage of  water and foods, how can we reach the conclusion that farmers are treated well in china.those obvious images bear out their pains and suffering.

all agricultural taxes exemption measure already announced but

Supply and demand theory in Capitalism society. Too much farmers to produce the same category products that keeps the agriculture products in low prices. Low prices and low profits make the farmers earning not enough for decent life.

Supply and demand theory....Do farmers have to produce more than one child? Who support their children's education? The government. The more children they have, the more the government have to invest on them.

Can poor farmers get enough social security for later life? Can rich people help them? If I were a farmer, I won't bring children to this world to suffer since I can't guarante they'll have a bright future.

This is a primitve Capitalism society. Even if the farmers' sons go the the cities to work on building, can't be sure they can get their wages on time.

In one sentence: the lower class in China is still being exploited in booming economy. Who take responsibity?

farmers: sacrificial lamb(victim)in booming economy

in china, farmers have comprised a large and immense proportion and constituted a vital part of our population.sure,we should balance this and keep this ratio going on.otherwise, our source of economy would dry up,to say nothing of dramatic development.
as luck would have it,our farmer are not aware of their situation.they are satisfied with enough clothes and foods, with no ambitions to learn and feed their brain(mind)so as to escape the destiny to be obliged to work and work endlessly.they don't!!!that is the tradegy of them!!!!be abound to be the sacrificial lamb in the booming enocomy.give source for others with meager income in return

the problem with farmers are that they are so feudal (e.g. problem of gender imbalance).  People would respect them more if they weren't so backwards in their thinking behaviors.

backwards thinking...and behaviors...shame on you!! The farmers are the ones who put the current political sysystem in power. Are you saying that the current government is backward thinking and their behaviors...to critize the farmers is to critize Chinas Heros. They work for nothing and do all the work and are builing China into a great nation.  Shame on you.

And there we have another example of a chinese (?) urban dweller thinking he's so much better than his rural brothers and sisters. This sort of mentality (some people are "more equal" than others) is not going to help China progress, and hurts all Chinese citizens, not just the farmers.

Make the farmer richer....so he'll get more respect!

Simple!

But not so easy to implement.

It's easy in Australia when you have 600 hectares land per farmer!

i don't take this point. as we all know, most of the Chinese farmers are poor ,very poor, maybe even can't afford to bring up a child .however,it seems that everyone have a right to marriage and have childern.they are too poor to give their children a bright future, but different people have different life style . poor ,low social identity, this is one life style. opposite,a rich  life belongs to another. maybe their children can't earn so much money like you think, but they may think they are happy .in my opinion,it is enough.

If you had the chance to travel aroud the countries around Zhejiang, you would get the fact that farmers are not poor anymore, at least part of them are rich, they get their own houses, cars, even factories.   there is few people still work in the ground.

Well some have a lot more than 600 Ha.
But I think you'll find many are much smaller.
When I was growing up on a dairy farm we had about 40 hectares, local orchardists (Pears, Apricots and Peaches) had about 16 to 20 Ha. each.

Still, I imagine it is a quite a bit more than some of the family farms in China.

most of them can't  support their children high education, if their children enter university and big city, they can't afford the high real estate price for their children.
so do you think we can respect them.

I just met an Australian farmer's wife in my spa right here in Kuala Lumpur.

She told me the DROUGHT is pretty bad on her husband's 2000 acre farm! WOW!
and planting is like a risky business of lottery.
Yields on Australian land is poor due to low water levels.....

She makes more in a GIFTs shop she owns in town near Sdyney!

yeah..compare that to China's 1 hectare!

hmmmmm

Nice lady, a bit tanned, and big size lady....daughter was really petite and pretty!!! and getting an education in rural Australia is pretty difficult because of the distance to drive. (by the way, the Australian lady commented...they don't have the qualtiy of SPA  in Australia that we have in Malaysia)
