The microprints of 1980s Shanghai
Shanghai is a great and booming city, representing the remarkable pace of China's growth. Now Shanghai is on the way to become the international center, which is the epitome of China's modern business and culture.
Time has slipped away since 1980s that is a golden age for Shanghai to start off its flourish, mostly for China's policy of openness trial.
So looking back the time of 1980s, to the people who have experienced the period, it must be very sentient and touched, meanwhile it may be curious and unbeknown to the outliers. So thank the camerist who left behind such memorable microprints for us to retrieve and witness the special time.

Your living place with nothing changed for 60 years leads to my supposition that you must live in an untraversed place, where human never meddle in.
It is nice for you being environed by aboriginality.

It looks like the 70s to me. That Çåˬ¿ÉÀÖ ad seems misplaced... were there private companies advertising for consumer products like that?
And in the "obliterating individuality" of the time, I can see a borgeois ÓÒÅÉ couple wearing bourgeois clothes instead of the mandatory Mao suit (Sun Yixian suit). (Interestingly, you can STILL see a few old people wear those kind of clothes... I suspect that they are not produced since 30 years back, which means they must have worn those clothes for quite some time.)
Weren't TVs common? I know almost none had telephone, but TV is the ultimate propaganda tool, the best way to propagate the latest and the greatest of revolutionary news, for instance the Gang of Four trials in 1980.

those pictures are not from 1980's. it is from 1960's.
I think you are not considerate of the picture of advertising Coca-Cola. The brand of Frozen Coca-Cola was registered in 1968. And it was the establishment diplomatic relations with US in 1979 resulting in Coca-Cola coming into China¡¯s market. So the front-page ad of Coca-Cola appeared in Shanghai¡¯s street making it more acceptable that it happened in 1980s.

We can see similar these kind of images in a lot of movies, TV, etc. As you know, Shanghai is a ideal place for movie scene that represent some sort of commercial atmosphere and prosperous city in China.

the most crowded city
A visitor told me he was impressed by the relatively good health condition of the citizens of Shanghai 20 years ago when he visited there. How can people maintain good health in such a crowded environment.

Bright colors...gradient...where are they?
Really surprised me to see everyone dressed in such uniformed fashion. I am so glad I didn't come from a time like that...dark colors and hues everywhere...it would drive me to eat a pound of sugar, spice and go mad.
