Want a Chinese husband//wife?

Intercultural marriage is very popular nowadays. I couldn't help thinking why? Is it purely for the reason of love? Can the husband and wife understand each other well? Really doubt it!

Well, you may have doubts, but there's got to be a reason why there are several professors in my department with names like Maiheng Dietrich or Misako Chapman... some couples may have trouble, but some don't. It all depends on the amount of love and effort you put into it.

Opposites attract. And eating spaghetti each day is boring; you get used to it. It is the same with culture. I am just so fed up with Western culture. There is nothing new anymore. The same goes for the girls, I am tired of Western chicks. And the longer I am in China, the less attracted I am to Western girls and the more attracted I am to Chinese girls.

There may be some differences to overcome, but hey, that's a challenge. Amor vincit omnia.

The communication is so easy now.More and more exchange has happened in trade,culture.economy etc.Intercultural marriages emerge accordingly.It is not so complicated as some people thinks.

As for pure love,there is love in the world.But there is no pure love at the same time.Don't think about it.Love is the most complex thing in the world.

Can he and she understand eachother?who care?It is their business.They selected it and they endeavor it.

Intercultural marriage is not common.

Not many inter-cultural marriages - compared to same-culture
Communication is improved: More inter-cultural interactions than before, so more love stories.
More interactions + more open-mindedness = more relationships.

Maybe I am not right, but I think that intercultural marriage is not common.  Compared to intra-cultural (same - culture) marriage.  Well obvious?: Yes, you meet a lot more people with the same, or similar, culture.  In comparison there are few inter-cultural interactions & so few inter-cultural marriages.  Communication is certainly much easier than it used to be.  Now, travel to China & work there is easier, there are simply a lot more opportunities for inter-cultural interactions.

Also I think the world is becoming more the global village.  People are prepared to believe that other cultures can have similar values, prepared to interact, more than tourist observation.

Some people will always be comfortable only in their own culture, others will be prepared to take the risks of looking into other cultures & find similarity, things they also value.  This seems to me a basis for relationships.

Inter-cultural relationships are full of risks, surprises & serendipity.

I used to witness some interculture marriages when I was abroad. But I dont think they got together out of love. and I found how important it is that the two people have the same way of thought, the same opinion for value. The communications between a Chinese and a British are far more difficulty that those between a French and a British. coz there are so many differences between western culture and eastern culture. So I always think how can a Chinese girl marry to a western man if they don't communicate very well. I like western men. I like the shape of the face, I like the style they do things(much like a true man). However, when I communicate with them I don't think we understand each other quite well. It seems not the problem of language barrier but the culture difference. We were just not talking about the same thing. I am still looking forward to meeting some western man who understands eatern culture very well.

You are right evelyn, Even you are in love with a person, and you speak the same language. They way of thinking is always different, because of the culture difference. I came to china the first time in 1997 and stayed for 1 year. Then I came back in 2003 and since then I stay in china.
The western think sometimes about the chinese, why in the he... is he doing this now and the same feeling the chinese have about the foreigners.
I think it need a very long time living in a country and study culture to be able to understand more and be able to communicate without difficulties.
