Local residents watch smoke rising into the sky after explosions at a chemical plant belonging to PetroChina in Jilin City in northeast China's Jilin Province November 13, 2005. Six were killed and dozens were injured in the explosions. A chemical spill from the explosions also polluted the Songhua River. [newsphoto]

A newborn baby boy cries as his mother looks at him in a hospital yard in Jiujiang County, east China’s Jiangxi province, November 27, 2005. 24-year-old Ni Minfang gave birth to the boy on a makeshift delivery vehicle after an earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale hit the region, killing 14 people and destroying 8,500 homes, November 26. The baby was later named “Dong Zhensheng” to commemorate the earthquake. 'Dong' is his family name. 'Zhenzheng' means that he was born during an earthquake. [Newsphoto]
