Candinborough Fair

Are you going to Candinborough Fair
Sunny, shiny, cloudy and gallopy
Carry me to the town of shiny air
It was once our fun joint, secretly

Tell her to make me a cup of beer
(On the side of a bar in the deep alley dusky)
Sunny, shiny, cloudy and gallopy
(Tracing of horses on the street hushed down)
Without no sins nor the Jill Dear
(Blankets and bedclothes the eye of loyalty)
Then I’ll be the true love of thine, blissfully
(Sleeps unaware of the morning call)

HH, I admire your talent so much.

QUOTE:
1. Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there
For once she was a true love of mine.

2. Have her make me a cambric shirt
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Without a seam or fine needle work
And then she'll be a true love of mine.

3. Have her wash it in yonder dry well
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Where ne'er a drop of water e'er fell
And then she'll be a true love of mine.

4. Have her find me an acre of land
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Between the sea and over the sand
And then she'll be a true love of mine.

5. Plow the land with the horn of a lamb
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Then sow some seeds from north of the dam
And then she'll be a true love of mine.

6. If she tells me she can't, I'll reply
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Let me know that at least she will try
And then she'll be a true love of mine.

7. Love imposes impossible tasks
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Though not more than any heart asks
And I must know she's a true love of mine.

8. Dear, when thou has finished thy task
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Come to me, my hand for to ask
For thou then art a true love of mine

Hi, rainbow,
They don't mean anything substantial at all. Really, they are supposed to be fun and entertaining. Initially, I intended to treat the lyrics in a serious manner. But gradually, you know, my thoughts strayed away and landed on the Land of Amusement, where I did a couple of tricks and quitted cold turkey in uncontrollable laughter.

It was really lovely, househusband! It evoked "Scarborough Fair" but had its own  fun, musical ♪ ♫ quality.

(The line Sunny, shiny, cloudy and gallopy reminds of when rovi sometimes says "sloppy, shoddy, funny" referring to his own work. It brings a smile to my face.)

Actually, I think it takes a great deal of talent to sound both nonsensical and natural but, as always, you pull it off, hh!

There's one too which maybe is one of my first English songs. Oh Susana

I come from Alabama
With my banjo on my knee
I'm going to Louisiana,
My true love for to see

It rained all night
The day I left
The weather it was dry
The sun so hot,
I froze to death
Susanna, don't you cry

Oh, Susanna,
Oh don't you cry for me
For I come from Alabama
With my banjo on my knee

I had a dream the other night
When everything was still
I thought I saw Susanna
A-coming down the hill

The buckwheat cake
Was in her mouth
The tear was
In her eye
Says I, I'm coming from the south
Susanna, don't you cry

Oh, Susanna,
Oh don't you cry for me
For I come from Alabama
With my banjo on my knee

Nothing very nonsensical here, even though it looked so at first sight. I thought it was saying "The weather used to be dry before, yet the day I left it rained all night!  The Sun was so hot, yet I felt so cold inside that I nearly froze to death."  Perhaps a vain attempt to try and understand a song, but what I can say, I am a freak.

It always reminds me of my first English teacher. She is short and likes wearing  high-heel shoes. The heels were really thiiin and hiiigh.  I often watched her shoes and wondered how she could keep the balance so well in class rather than studying seriously.

Well, Yesterday once more...And that is the song she often played for us during listening traning class too.

I think it's just an example of exaggeration for humorous effect, sort of like going so far east you arrive in the west.. It reminds me of the famous line attributed to Mark Twain (but never said by him): "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco."

A good interpretation. But there is one point on which my understanding might differ. The "rain" in here may refer to Susana's tears (as in "to cry a river"). By the way, why do you call yourself a freak? You said things beautiful and normal and then called yourself a "freak"?
