Making New Year's resolutions is a popular tradition, but Peter says many people end up breaking those promises to themselves after just a few weeks. While sticking to a resolution can be tough, Peter says there are ways for you to organize your mind and put a plan in place to make your resolutions a reality.

做出新年决意是流行的传统,但Peter说许多人很短时间便打破做出的承诺. 恪守决意很难,但是Peter说有方法让你组织思想,采用一项计划来实现这样的决意.

Whether you want to get fit, lose weight or organize your household, Peter says these tips will help you take on whatever New Year's resolution you choose:

不论你想获得健康.减肥还是操持家务,Peter说下面这些都适用在一切新年决意上:

* Start with one resolution. If you try to make too many, you may not accomplish any.
* 最先做出一个决意.如果你做出的决意过多,也许一样也完不成.
* Make your resolution very specific. "Don't say 'I want to lose weight'—instead, say 'I want to lose three pounds a month so that I look hot in my new swimsuit come summer,'" Peter says.
* 对决意内容十分明确. "不要说'我想减肥'--而是说'我要在一个月内减3磅,这样我今年夏天穿新泳衣一定很性感"
* Be serious about your resolution. If you don't take your resolution seriously, Peter says it is a waste of time to make one.
* 对待决意态度认真. 如果你对待决意的态度不严肃,那么下决意就是在浪费时间.
* Write your resolution down and post it in a visible place. If you see your goal every day, it will be in the forefront of your mind, Peter says.
* 把决意写下来,贴在明显处. 如果每天都能看见你的目标,那么就会时刻记住.
* Enlist the support of friends and family. Bring others in on the resolution so you have a support group to help you accomplish your goals.
* 向家人朋友寻求支持. 让人们参与到决意中,这样你的亲友团就能帮助你达到目标.
* Don't let yourself quit. Even if you slip up once or twice, you shouldn't abandon your resolution.
* 别让自己放弃. 即便一两次不小心"犯错",也不要放弃决意.

我觉得“决意”可以当动词“，但决意” 用来当名词不太顺。不信，你念中文给你的朋友听听，看他们是不是真的理解，还是通过上下文猜的。
