be it from Latin, or French, of Spanish, Vita, Vigor etc. maybe the direction to figure out this 'Vaio'. However, Sony always spent tons of gold inventing products marketing names, from Sony, to Clie, to walkman, to handycam, playstation, i tend to think that Sony tries to convey multiple meanings, and make the name resonating.
As Vaio is with Sony laptop, may be we can say, it means in Chinese: 欢乐？活力？巍峨？Well, the last is my attempt to make fun of Sony.
