A female student at Peking University didn't want to go home alone for the Spring Festival so she's seeking a man to pretend to be her boyfriend.

She is offering to pay up to 10,000 yuan ($1,460) a day to the person who accepts the role.

She wrote that her family won't let her go home for the holiday "unless I bring home a boyfriend with me."

The ad triggered debate on the Internet with some saying they understood her situation while some psychologists said it could cause trouble for her and possibly put her in danger if dishonest men answered her ad.

article is a little old, but I have heard of this before just for much less money. One of my friends even tried to contract me, but all she was offering was plane tickets, food, and board. Suburban Wuhan didnt seem that interesting back then.

Let me see:
1) The girl wants to see her family.
2) Her family doesn't want to see her unless with a man.
3) Girl is willing to pay money to a stranger so that she can go home.
4) People here accuse her of having no dignity?

Sounds like the girl is the one here who is being treated without dignity, especially by her family.

Is it right for the family to force her, using emotional blackmail?

Who really knows, but I felt it necessary to include all possibilities.

I agree that the threat of dangerous men applying makes this whole ordeal a bad idea, but people shouldn't accuse the girl of being a terrible person over this (a bit naive perhaps, but far from a bad person.).

If her family trully cared for her, they would want to see her regardless...... this makes the family wrong in my eyes (but as an "evil" gweilo, what do I know.).

It does sound dangerous, specially since offering so much money is a good way to lure criminals.

On the other hand, doesn´t she have a male friend that could do that for her for free.
