No? really ?
I have seen four super natural pictures moved up and down in Beijing yesterday.
The picture ever claimed that they create your life?
Or that they may fly or walk on the water?
I think only your Jesus ever claimed so.

If the word sainthood would not be a Christian word,
it needed to be re-invented for the way those four are presented.

You still fall into desperation.
You compared your
almighty
god with mundane people.
In other words, you admit that your god is no powerful than any existing people (that your god claimed to be created by him).
The, why you still believe in him?

The problem
Here is the problem I have with "main stream" Christians:
1) "Original sin" We are born with this and nothing you can do about it. You MUST be a Christian to be forgiven and accepted into Heaven. What a power trip!!!!! If there is anything that is pure in the world...that is a newborn baby. How can such a innocent thing be "evil" at birth?
2) Heaven allows only Christians: You could be good and kind....you could be a healer.....It does not matter what you do in this life! ALL that matters is you are a Christian. In my book God would love us all...no matter race,religion....their god is a petty God!
3) The Church is Material and promotes materialism: Who is the biggest private land holder in the World? The Vatican....they live in the lap of luxury. They say be "unselfish" and yet pass the plate around (in public so one feels obligated to give) after every mass. What do the leaders of the evangelicals drive and live? BMW's and huge mansions!
4) Pedophiles: How many Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu leaders are caught for sexual misconduct? There is not a week that goes by that you see leaders of the Western faith being caught for these acts.
5) Hate, War and world domination: How many wars were caused by western religions? Nearly all of them! The biggest atrocities done to people were by these people ie Crusades, Inquisition, Jim Jones, Korresh..... When they went to other lands to "spread the word"...what happened to the native people there? Killed and their land taken away from them. Name on instance where any western religion came and left without doing this?
ALL this is their "right" given to them according to the Bible.

I like the diskworld reference morgezuma.
I think the Bible has factual parts to it but most of it is fiction.

It is strange they are silent here

The baby is not "evil at birth". A baby is born into an imperfect world and thus will take up evil behaviour when he/she grows older.

This might partly be true, but only partly. I think in traditional societies, such incidents are rather kept under the carpet. Especially if the religious rulers are the political rulers at the same time (as often in Islam).

Nearly all of them!
Sorry, but this is nonsense. The war of 100 years, the war of 30 years, the war of 7 years, Napoleon's wars, the wars of the East Indian companies, the French-German war, WWI, WWII... in what way were they *caused* (and I emphasized *caused*) by Western religion?
There were wars which took religious aspects as a pretext. Some few were perhaps caused by religion itself. For the cruisades... I would say they were half-half. Half motivatd by religion, half by material interests. Inquisition... these were atrocities, for sure. But what about Stalin's "purges" and Mao's 1000-flowers campaign or cultural revolution? People have always been persecuted for their convictions, it's nothing specifically religious, much less specifically Christian.

CD server is very slow lately. It's taking a long time to post.
UYA - I don't take the bible word for word. My religion from birth was Episcopalian.
Their dogma was/is very nebulous or unclear. They're more into helping others.
In your later post, you bring up good points about the bad side of the church. Again, it's the
church - the religion taken too literally - without compassion, intelligence.

Liuyedao - according to those who told his story, Jesus never claimed to walk on water, etc.
He was seen to walk on water, and perform other miracles.
Indeed, only one writer in the bible attributes a miraculous birth to Jesus.
The man himself is claimed to have declared himself the son of god.
Very dangerous thing to do in those days.

Dongfong - id!ot! My posts are going through fine. It's going from screen to screen that's
slow. Get out of here and stop being a pest
, I'm trying to be helpful.
If I may advise
If one wants to become a christian, although I don't really know why: so many other religions will
help you achieve the
real
goal of inner peace and outer usefulness - visit many churches until
you find your "fit".
There will be certain things you must say and do. So what? Say and do them.
As long as you just let your heart open a little to that power which is bigger than you.
Then take your inner peace and be a force for good in your world.
