Chinese farmers' income to be doubled

(China Daily)
Updated: 2008-10-13 07:27

The nation has set a goal of doubling per capita disposable income of rural residents by 2020 from the 2008 level, top decision-makers announced in Beijing Sunday.

Per capita rural disposable income in 2007 was 4,140 yuan ($605), a year-on-year gain of 9.5 percent in real terms. A rise of at least 6 percent is expected this year, according to the government annual report issued in March.

The rural population mired in absolute poverty was reduced to 15 million last year, down from 250 million in 1978.

In the communiqu, the CPC promised to allot more government funds to public services in rural areas, including education, healthcare, employment, housing and pension.

Agriculture will be modernized in tandem with rural progress, and agricultural productivity will be raised, with national grain security and product supplies ensured, the communiqu said.

It warned that the global economy was slowing, threatening to dent Chinese growth, and said the country would be turning to home markets to counter the fallout.

The standard of absolute poverty makes sense.

i am very happy to hear that, thank you for telling this good news in time, and we all hope this goal will come true soon.to tell the truth, i am from a very poor
and small village, and i can deeply know the poverty there like other poor areas, and people who live there are almost seperated from outside world. so most of them have low sense of knowledge which leads many children there have no chance to go to school.and the village becomes poorer and poorer, ....i am
sad about it, i really want to do something for my hometown. and now i can not find any other ways except studying hard!!if i earn a lot of money i will donate much to my village and others alike.
i also hope our local government will take more uesful actions too.i believe the situation will get better soon, and all people will lead happy life

Good new! The living conditions of Chinese farmers have been greatly improved during the 30 years of reform and opening up. However, there is still a gap in income between city dwellers and rural ones. The government is wise to continue to deepen the rural reform!

My suggestion:
1£¬To reduce the gap between city and village
2£¬on the conditaion of not land reform, how to possess of the capital asserts for farmer.
3£¬the issue of national enterprise development.
4£¬the issue of official mentality.

of course there will be a gap.

it's cheaper to live in the farms.
you don't have to buy land to build your house in the rural region.
so your disposable income is so much large.

with larger farms, expect the farmers to build greenhouse to reduce need for chemical pesticides, and improve yield and quality of produce.
expect to be able to afford more machinerys and processing automation devices.

it's an automatic process.

In fact, if it's Rmb3,000 a month....

....it would not affect much since in rural region, entertainment venues are so much less expensive.

I mean a huge gap. You are right that they don't have to buy land to bulid their house and food to feed themselves. What will they do when they are old? Continue to farm on their land to support them? What will they do if they are ill? Who will pay for the great amount of medical bill? You have insurance, what do they have?

Copy from the British Club....provident fund for the self employed.

The Amerikans copied from us, the 401(K).
It's insurance for them.
or Compulsory insurance purchase since there is also a compulsory grain purchase from the Chinese provincial governments.

what's the matter, small problems get "mental block"?
