Rape trial begins for petitioner from village
A woman who was held by guards at a Beijing hotel, and claims she was raped by one of them, complained the rape trial was unfair because the judge had snubbed her requests to speak.
"He did not allow me to speak up," Li Ruirui said after the trial.
"I wanted to protest but he did not allow me to do that either," she said, according to a tape provided by Liu Dejun, a labor-rights advocate who has closely watched this issue, which has caused an uproar over China's petition system.
Li Ruirui, a 20-year-old villager from the eastern Chinese province of Anhui, arrived in Beijing to petition the State Bureau for Letters and Calls about being ridiculed by her teachers and classmates, according to previous media reports.
She was later taken to the hotel by officials from the province's liaison office in Beijing, who had discovered her in front of the authority's gate and put under surveillance.
Li accused Xu Jian, 26, a former guard, of raping her on Aug 4 when she was held with other petitioners at the hotel.
The trial at the Fengtai District court, which was closed to the public, lasted about one and a half hours and finished without a verdict, said Liu, who was not allowed into the courtroom.
Li, her mother and two lawyers showed up at court.
"Ruirui and her mother have never experienced such a situation as a trial," said one of her lawyers who was not named in the tape. "They are so poorly educated that they were unable to understand what the judge and prosecutor said."
The court dismissed other charges against the hotel and two provincial liaison offices, according to Liu.
"I expect the court to give a verdict in 15 days," he said.
Li also demanded compensation from the rape suspect.
Xu, along with other guards at the hotel, was responsible for preventing the petitioners from leaving until they promised they would not come back to Beijing to petition. They were then taken home by officials from their hometowns.
Li reported the rape to a police station in Fengtai District on Aug 4.
Xu turned himself in to local police on Aug 11 after fleeing to his hometown of Tongbai county in Henan.

I a second phase these kind of rights will be granted.
She is simply too early - so it is her fault !

Even an Italian court is better than any court in China.
They are not afraid to sentence American CIA guys despite tremendous pressure and blackmaling from many corners.

After China reach today's Germany stage, there should be many lazy losers in China, like those in Germany.
These losers will definitely hard to find local wives, added by the gender imbalance.
Maybe at that time you can educate the local Chinese, how to regain digity out there, by finding wives from nations full of hungry females.

Rudi and some leisure-time China bashers loves to relate everything bad he sees to how bad China for not following western prescription.
I may understand why he defend Kristianity even he said he doesn't believe it, since the doctrines already helped him, a loser, ro regain dignity in this part of the world.

If you check this piece of news in Chinese you'll find that some articles reported in main websites like Xinhua and People's Daily earlier now cannot be found again. Even those quoted in Sina's blog website are deleted.
The Singaporean media reported more details on Li's family's complaint and request such as "her family asked the people in society to continue to pay attention to this case and urge the authority to...."these words not found in Chinese versions from mainland websites. So if it's true, that means they don't want her to get more attention from the mass.

Things will only change for the better with enough "people pressure". The more people get to know about such things, the more the government is afraid to sweep it under the table.

No need to pretend you care for the peasants Mr. Panda.
We all know very well how you and your batallion create poverty and chaos in countless societies.
The classical theory of power says it well "any rise of new power will make the incumbent power nervous, the next thing is on how the incumbent power do everything it can to stop the rise of the new power".
The theory clearly explains Rudi's and your behavior, the rise of China make both of you nervous and try to insist that today's western way of living is the correct one. Thus, attack on China will become daily activities.
The difference is, you're from "fu*k China" spy batallion and this is your smart move(compare to your comrades in Kabul or Fallujah, they are begging to be transferred into Beijing) and you command certain knowledge about China, but Rudi is an old loser that can't even know what is FSB, a show of his failed 50+ years.
So, I suggest you to find better ally in to create mess here, Rudi is simply no match to you.

Last week’s edition of Southern Weekly (Aug. 6) carried an extraordinarily rare article on a subject that is usually off-limits for the mainstream media in China: the “black jails” that operate outside of the law in Beijing, detaining people who have committed no crime and have simply come to the capital to exercise their legal right to petition the central government. The report avoids the term “black jail” and does not discuss the widespread use of these illegal places of detention. Nevertheless, it gives a graphic account of life inside one of them.

Do you actually have family in P.R. China?
