1 million Bibles
1 million Bibles and New Testament for Catholics in China
This is unprecedented in China: One million copies of Bible and NT to be printed and distributed free to Catholic believers in Mainland China. Never before has there been such a large volume of Bible and NT ever distributed free in China within a year.
The Catholic community is growing steadily in the Mainland. Official estimates reported 6 million Catholics, with unofficial estimates putting it at 12 million. Most of these believers residing in the rural areas rely on subsistence agriculture as a source of income. Many of them are not able to afford a Bible or the NT.

The Catholic Patriotic Association, supported by the United Bible Societies (UBS) and the Taize Community, is spearheading the project of printing and distributing 800,000 New Testaments (including Psalms and Ecclesiasticus) and 200,000 Bibles in China. This unparalleled move is in response to the crying needs of the Chinese Catholics for the Word of God.
The Scripture version is the Studium Biblicum Version (SBV) which is the version approved by the Bishops¡¯ Conference of the Catholic Church in China for publication and distribution in Mainland China. These SBV Bibles and NT are being published in the simplified script, horizontal format (see photographs), a format preferred by the Mainland Chinese. The SBV Bible was originally published in traditional script, vertical format. UBS helped and funded the conversion to the simplified script, horizontal format. From 1994 to 2008, the Chinese Catholic Church has printed and distributed a total of 962,000 copies of SBV Bible and NT. The Bible paper for all these Scriptures has been funded by UBS.
The Taize Community has agreed to fund the printing and distribution costs of the one million Scripture project. UBS and Taize Community are co-funding the Bible paper cost for these one million copies. All the one million copies of the Bible and NT will be printed at the Amity Printing Company (APC), a printing company jointly established by Amity Foundation and UBS.
As of July 2009, APC has completed the printing of 400,000 copies of the New Testament. These are now being distributed throughout China. The rest of the Scriptures will be printed and distributed in the next few months.
To ensure that all the one million copies are distributed without delay, funds for Bible paper are urgently required for the continued production of the one million copies. We appeal to all.

I hope for you, that not one day somebody considers the people of the Hui as subversive just out of the blue moon.
In a multi cultural and multi ethnic society, with such a huge population, tolerance and understanding must be top priority.

You hope to Balkanize China, dividing this country along with line of ethnicity, religion and faith, that's clear.
But your wish will be doomed to failure.

You are talking about "tolerance" toward an evil doctrine, which allow and encourage killings in the middle east.
By importing the doctrines in China, division and bloodshed will enlarged.
Hostility in the form of "tolerance".

This bible distribution is NOT done by Foreign missionaries, but by Chinese themselves.

Then it will sligthly safer, to interpret and translate the violent bloodshed as an example how Christian god brutally slaughtered non-Jew.

Sorry, my Filipina wife is calling me.
We have to get ready for church in Guangzhou.
I promise, I will not forget to pray for you, so that your heart will be open for the many diverse people living in China.
I'll be back after church to continue this debate.

Don't be stupid.
Why you have to attend church every week to thank a dead man, just because he said he created you.

Your pray is a waste of time, the dead man won't give you anything than illusion.

Is this an example of Chinese tolerance and mind cultivation?

No, just a decent advise for him not to waste too much time.

this is your opinion. Mine is different.
And it seems that Chinese tolerance is applied only to Chinese, and perhaps to all Chinese except Christians.

Your god showed no tolerance to other race.
So it will be naive for us to show tolerance toward him, he'll just exploit it.

other race? It's not about race. And don't say God when some people are doing wrong things.
Apart from this, your stance is like from 30 years ago. Nowadays, even the Chinese government is much more relaxed than you are.

Am I wrong when your god stated that Jew is his chosen race?
Is it also wrong that he slaughtered the Egypts when they refused to let Moses out of their city?

I won't continue this thread, but so much:
about "chosen race", I can't answer in 2 sentences. But see in history what Christians did to Jews. How can you claim that Christians consider Jews as the chosen race in the meaning that they are superior to others?
About slaughtering Egyptians... this is an old text, and people's way of thinking was different in that time. And it was a question of justice. A justice we would not apply like that nowadays. But in any case, it was not about race.
