My view is that it's going the same way the Soviets did in the 60's (Khruschev privately told Kennedy they were broke, and meant it!). So much of the fabled cash is being put into subsidising non-productive industries, effectively producing subsidised goods for export. Cheap Chinese whitegoods? You're buying part of China's cash reserve! And that's demonstrably a one-way street. but, the imperative is to keep a vast population employed or risk meltdown, so whaddya do?
