“”While Chinesestudents traditionally went abroad when they failed to secure a place at atop-tier local university, the best students are now forgoing elite Chineseuniversities to study in the United States, according to Lin, now academicdirector of Ivy Labs Education, an admissions consultancy in Beijing.
Chinese parentssend their children to private U.S. high schools as a "strategicdecision" to strengthen their candidacy for elite U.S. universities, Linsaid. A growing number also want their children to lead happier lives ratherthan have them consumed by preparing for the "gaokao" in China -- theone-time, high-stakes national university entrance examination that is the soledeterminant of admission.
Are we confusing “the best students” with the students who have to the parents with the most money. It seems that only the best students can make it into the elite Chinese universities.
Of course, if Chinese students start supporting American universities with a huge influx of full fee paying students then American universities must start teaching the benefits of having a communist government. After all, China is absolutely the most progressive nation with the fastest growing economy.
