Dear members,

When we travel, we tend to easily fall victim to travel frauds or scams. You may’ve been cheated by tour guides to do unnecessary shopping, or you may’ve been overcharged by the agency for the substandard goods and services.

What about a travel trap that happens to you? Would you like to share your story with us so that we will not be ripped off again? For your conveniences and more for others! Hope this thread will be helpful for those travel fans!

Well, the best way to avoid being ripped off is to have a local to bring you along during your travel.

If you get a very cheap tour, then the tour guide is payed by the commission shopping AKA "you get what you pay for". The guides might have tour managers who pay low wages to their guides...

Travel trap? Nah, i have my complaints about certain  places that i've visited but i wouldn't call em travel traps.

For example: I thought that Tokyo tower was a waste of time for someone like me who had ~5 days to see tokyo but it wasn't bad, that's mostly because the waiting lines were huge.

In Serbia i thought that it was pretty gloomy, i walked into a place that supposedly was a super-market but seemed to have less stuff than i've got in my home.

In London i realised that food joints that look good can be very bad because in Greece (where i live) appearances go with food quality.

Maybe the most tourist trap-y place that i can think of was... The santa-claus village in Rovaniemi. The place was a HUGE waste of time, i'd rather go to the local luna park than go there again.
