Don't halve one pear with your friend; Don't stick your chopsticks into rice upward;
Never ever send a gift like clock; Better not write someone's name with red ink..... How many other taboos do you know about Chinese?

Never cry on New Year’s Day or you'll cry all year.

Don’t wash your hair on (Chinese) New Year Day because this will wash away your luck.

On your birthday one long noodle is usually slurped but never try to bite the noodle or cut the noodle. This will lead to early death.

When giving gifts always do it in pairs. All good things are given in pairs and not as one piece.

Don't  offer an umbrella to a friend . The word for umbrella (傘, sǎn) sounds similar to (散 sàn), to break up, and it's considered  that you don't want to see your friend ever again.

Don't use your finger to motion someone to come nearer. In many Asian countries this is seen as
an insult.. as if motioning a dog to come to you.
If capitalism promotes innovation and creativity then why aren't scientists and artists the richest people in a capitalist nation?

Some more taboos:

Do not give sharp objects that are used to cut things as a present. It does symbolize you want to sever a friendship or relationship.

Gifts in sets of four are not good. Four symbolizes death. So avoid such presents.

Avoid giving cut flowers to your host and in particular avoid yellow or white Chrysanthemums or any white flowers.  White flowers are used at funerals only.

Clocks of any type must be avoided because 送鐘 (song zhong) sounds like 送終 (song zhong, the funeral ritual). Clocks also symbolize that time is running out; therefore, the end of a relationship and life is the message that is sent when a clock is given as a gift.
