In some remote ethnic minority villages at the Sino-Vietnam border areas in Wenshan of Yunnan province, transnational marriage has long been commonplace.  Vietnamese brides, for majority of border residents, are not an object of distant fantasy, but the most important part of their lives. Pictured is Tao Jinmei, 23, married at 17 from Vietnam, now has three children.
