China should take more interest in its neighbourhood.  This is also necessary to make its own progress sustainable and to forward further.

China's global image is one of a very successful nation that doesn't constantly involve itself in wars
like so many successful western nations do. Creating conflicts that kill thousands and millions of people
for financial gain, often disguised as national security, is not only immoral but financially unsound.
Look no further than the huge debts racked up by west by waging so many unnecessary wars.
China is a nation that makes progress by working, not by fighting and bullying.
This is a model other nations should aspire to.
If capitalism promotes innovation and creativity then why aren't scientists and artists the richest people in a capitalist nation?

While making progress through working, China has to beware of repudiating indebted ones.  It should continue search for true friends.  Indebted vultures, could be war mongers for the sack of repudiation.

I think what was asked for here is what the world thinks of China - and not what China thinks the world should think of it...

China does very little except talk with no positive actions whatsoever. When will China actually try and improve world for all rather than Chinese Mafia/nobility?

Korean penisular conflict - caused by China in the first place by supporting insane despotic family. China now uses DPRK as buffer against more successful South Korea.
Syria Conflict - China has vetoed several resolutions to end conflict which has no killed tens of thousands of civilians. States no foreign intervention as reason.
Iran nuclear program - China has not taken part in sanctions as favours status quo where China can purchase extremely Cheap oil. Only makes vague statements about diplomacy. Continuing conflict also keeps U.S focussed on quagmire of Middle East and away from Asia.
Libya Crisis - Chinese support of resolution helped end conflict after only a few months with fraction of deaths of Syria conflict due to NATO intervention. China however unhappy at intervention and loss of fellow dictator. Chinese arms companies caught selling weapons.
I may disagree with what you say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it - Voltaire

The secret of freedom lies in educating people, whereas the secret of tyranny is in keeping them
