March 1949, Gen. MacArthur gloated:

“the Pacific is now an Anglo-Saxon lake”.
                                                  —- US Gen. Douglas MacArthur

Even after the end of the Cold War the Pacific was a de facto American lake; the US violated Chinese naval and aerial space at will.

Gastrobotany

Gastrobotany is an ideology in haute cuisine which uses botanical elements. It is not vegetarian but extending the use of vegetables in the kitchen to all edible plants, and make them the soul of a dish, instead of meat and fish.  Oils, meat, fish and non-vegetarian ingredients are also used as dressings for vegetables and plants, and not the other way around.

US-led invasion of Afghanistan: Rise in opium production

One of the many catastrophic legacies left behind by a US-led invasion of Afghanistan is that Afghanistan now produces twice as much opium as it did in the year 2000. The invasion which started in 2001 is the longest war in US history.

In 2014, NATO-protected Afghan opium exports totaled 6,400 pounds, accounting for 90% of global illicit opium supply

Could you please explain why you said "Afghan opium exports were Nato-protected? I searched that from the Internet, and * one source claimed the US spent $7.5 billion to combat the trade.

PS.
*last decade, the United States has spent $7.6 billion in a massive effort to combat Afghanistan's lucrative opium trade. But after a record harvest last year, the U.S. inspector general for Afghanistan has concluded that the counter-narcotics strategy is failing badly.
