This is a FUN THREAD.

Maybe let's start with Roads.
Let's look at the problem of ASPHALT road construction and it's maintenance.
We can have alternative of REINFORCED CEMENT pavement roads.

Maybe I'll learn something extra from these threads.

Local Governments in Cities, Towns and Suburban are often responsible for roads, road furniture, street lighting, landscaping, solid waste disposal, cleaning, in most cases sewage disposal and public transport.

65% to 99% of the population in most "developed" states are URBAN RESIDENTS.

Want to talk about these matters, and create ideas on improvements?

Frequently we observe "cracked asphalt" road pavements.

This is common problem where "Road Budget per km" is insufficient, not properly used, or management of "local council" in inept.

I have long observed "crack roads", high discolouration is common in Southern, more tropical or desert regions.
The discolouration is due probably due to oxidation and long in between periods in resurfacing.
In Tropical and Sub Tropical region - Hot climate, plus sudden heavy rains causes ASPHALT stripping!

However often we see - POOR TECHNIQUES of resurfacing cause CRACKS surfaces on asphalt roads.
This is probably the problem of POORLY CAPITALIZED road repair & maintenance crews.
What they do is just do a COSMETIC thin layer of asphalt gravel mix.

IF YOU SEE such problem, you will be aware that there is problem in your LOCAL GOVERNMENT management!

Whenever you notice POTHOLES, especially quite serious as to see "soil surfaced".....

.........you'll realized POOR SUPERVISION in your local government.
It's common for ROAD repair contractors (either with poor skills, lack of knowhow, lack of equipment) to create "continuous problems". POTHOLES reflect poorly made ROAD BASE that makes it easy for serious water damage, and the patchy poor work quality during repairs doesn't help.

With limited budget in "road maintenance", choice of good maintenance contractors is VITAL.

Often we see SLIP SHOT repair work after the laying of pipes, cables.

The contracting company does not a good job to rebuild the road properly.
The compacted soil is not "hardened", the underlay "geotextile" is damaged, and resurfacing is poorly done.

LOCAL GOVERNMENT should spend time to evaluate the CAPABLITY of such "contractors" and be able to repair the road properly once digging is completed.
