USA only has 3% of it's citizenry working in the rural agricultural sector.

The demographic shows a worst situation.
Farmers has an average age of 58, and growing older.
They need to employ Illegal Migrant workers to maintain it's agricultural production, while more and more produce are imported increasingly from China, EU, Oceania-Asia, Latin America and Africa!

From Ginger, garlic, onion, spices, fruits - even orange, apple juice - fish, shell fish, mollusc, prawns, tea, coffee, cocoa, flowers, herbal, flavours - vanilla, mint, lavendar, peach, strawberries, etc. etc.

All indicative of the COMMODITIZED industrial farming of the United States.
More and More, the United State is becoming the modern "Don Quixote" economy that "hammered" the Spanish Empire Core of yesteryears!

What will the USA do on the incoming crisis!

More and more "worries" for the USA in 2050!

Currently the American population grows by 1% net every year!
By 2050, they should have a population of 450 million.

With lack of American Agriculture - the defisit of food will grow only bigger!
Just did some surfing, even TOMATOES, pepper, cucumber, bak choy, etc is short in the United States.

Worse, by then, USA will have NON-WHITE in the majority population.
Hispanics will be 26% (current 12%), Blacks 13% (current 13%) and Asian 12% (current 9%)

Will we see a TRI LINGUAL America by 2050?

Spanish, Swahili and English?

Just heard it on BBC online!

Spain exports Euro 300 million a week to rest of Europe.
That means, Euro 15 billion a year business!

It's only vegetable, beans, fruits, spices etc.

That's quite huge!

Food supply will become a big issue post 2030 to 2050!

We are watching continuing HUGE population growth in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

According to the Guardian today, it's gone to a stage where they plant VEGETABLES on floating decay biomass on the Bhramaputra River. In India, their population is going to exceed China's within 2 decades! Already South Asia are vegetarian, probably the most efficient way to keep maximum number of people alive.

In the USA, demographics is going to see food shortages in the USA.

This could affect Japan, Korea, Taiwan as American corn supplies the feedmills there. More and more Latin Americans, especially Brazil, Argentina will replace the United States as the suppliers!

The mechanics of world rivalry is changing FAST.

Now we see
(1) USA + protectorates, Germany, Japan, Korea with the automotive, petroleum global control!
(2) China and her powerful supply of food commodities, hypermarket products, OEM and automobile parts!
(3) BR(I)MS with the Russian military, and the commodities, food and energy supply
(4) France and SPIG states - the states now under pressure from Libya oil cut off, now seems to be attack on Spanish vegetable, fruit produce.
and of course
(5) British Club - the global financial, logistics, high technology, investment powerhouse.

THE GLOBAL GAME just changed.
The reality of the next 20 to 40 years ought to be paid full attention by all major powers!

World's available agriculture arable land for grain!

Currently, the world's available virgin arable land for grain should be in

(1) Amazon Basin
(2) Congo Basin
(3) Mississippi Basin  (but shortage of farming manpower)
(4) The Nile River Basin - South Sudan, Kenya down towards Tanzania/Zimbabwe
(5) Madagascar
(6) Russian temperate plains
(7) Australia
(8) Canadian Prairies

The stressed state will include most of South Asia (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh), Asia Pacific Rim (Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore), European Union, British Club (United Kingdom), Oceania (Java, Luzon) and even China (Livestock feedmill grains).

Population stresses will inadvertantly see "military conflicts", or at minimum, economic cooperation between the stressed states/underdeveloped states!

It does seemed that LATIN AMERICA - especially Brazil, the pampas States will immediately benefit. In the future, it would be the African continent.

The British, Russian will probably use "food" supply as strategic weapon as the USA will grapple with worker's shortages in their food production supply chain!

cheerios!

The African continent should also benefit tremendously

........at the latest 2 or 3 decades from now.

Congo Basin, Nile Basin and Madagascar, all have large arable land.
But it's people are unorganized and does only subsistence farming.
Industrial agriculture, and thereafter plantations would do wonders for this river basins, or rain swept island!

We have some problems in Africa where

.........we have "Civil insurrections" in the Congo Basin, Nile Basin and Madagascar!

The British Club's Darling-Murray Basin, and Canadian Prairie/Great Lakes basin - Black sea/Caspian sea/Aral Sea farms are in control of BIG POWERS who'd use the land for POLITICAL ARM TWISTING.

so, currently it's the huge AMAZON BASIN, Pampas the new FARMING LAND supply to the world!

cheerios!
