Based on the "data leaked" by China.

It would seem like China's population now is

(1) 1,000 mil on 150 million hectare of BASIN or coastal flat lands!
It would need to have an urbanization rate of 85% to create the rural farmlands with 1 farming citizen/hectare!
This will allow the rural farming family have Rmb6,000/hectare ex farm income x 4 pax/family = Rmb 24,000 per family!

(2) 220 mil on 110 million hectare of HILLY agricultural lands!
In this situation, we will need urbanization rate of 75% to create rural farmland with 1 farming citizen/2 hectare!
This will create a rural farm income of Rmb2,000/hectare ex farm income x 2 hectare x 4 pax/family = Rmb16,000 per family!

(3) 130 mil in 300 million hectares of pasture land plains!
We only need 20% of the population in urban area to supply the market.
Each pasture land family will have 12 hectares of land.

NOW, the problem of "urbanizing" the hilly region, and providing tools for the hill farmer to thrive, minus excessive manual labour!

Garlic in Shandong, Ginger in Guangxi are valuable crops!

Any way to mechanized the process.

Do we need to find a way to rebuild the hill farms to improve productivity.

The massive production of commodities

.............from China's hill slopes is rather interesting. China and the world actually need the productivity of China's hill farms.

Detail study on manpower requirement and crop mix, domestic commodity requirements must be undertaken.
Replacement of MEAT for rice, wheat in diets will reduce the needs for Hill terrace fields BUT that would increase the import of soya bean from the global market.

Reduction in the land area used in Hill Paddy Cultivation

..........seems to be the key!

Gourmet food, biofuel agriculture, fruits, flowers, vegetable are high value per hectare agriculture.

Seems simple enough, BUT must have a lot of practical problems involved.
Well, means more study time.
