China foremost needs good housing, not your bizarre household electronics.  ...

Agree.
But maybe hundreds of years later. Chinese could enjoy a house as greendragon's imagination.

Chinese appartments look alright until a few years after the sales when many things in the Xiaoqv are broken. So I guess there is still room for improvements... but the question is whether people are ready to pay extra for extra quality. Most people just want a place to live, not a fancy luxury loft.

However, Seneca, you shouldn't expect China to adapt the ridiculously high quality standards in northern European countries - if you travell to southern Europe or to the USA, you'll see that you can live comfortably without having tens of centimeters thick insulation and pure concrete walls.

many many new hi rises...

i was extremely lucky to be invited into my friend home in nanchang city 3 years ago...they just bought a brandnew apartment house & the interior is very interestin if i have to compare to the US but the even newer apartment complex buildings are very closely in design like the US homes...very sophisticated with modern home appliances, furnitures, etc

It's better for the "Affordable home programme"

.......stimulus for the post 2012 crisis (now that we are "gaining" a clearer picture")

will have homes with such "specifications"
I did a simple division - it's about Rmb120,000 per "subsidized home"
and we know, home size is about 90 square metres!

So, The Central government is "paying" for the "construction" cost of such homes!
The Local government can still "earn" from selling the "land rights"

cheerios!
