My daughter told me a story about a pizza delivery boy she knew.  His name was Alec and he was a student studying at university – working nights delivering pizzas to customers who would ring up their orders to the local Pizza Parlour.  It wasn’t the best part-time job in the world – but it did supplement his non-existent income.  Let’s just say it earned him some pocket money to enable him to take his girlfriend out occasionally.

He only worked three nights per week – and on these particular days he had very little time for a proper meal on completion of his day studying at University - before he had to scurry along to the Parlour to begin delivering pizzas to hungry residents.

I know – you are wondering where this is getting… hang on we’ll soon be there.

Climbing six flights of stairs in a high-rise block of flats because the elevator was ‘out of order’ didn’t make it any easier for our hard-working young student and missing his usual quick sandwich before work was definitely a factor in what happened next.

As he carried the pizzas – four of them – up the seemingly endless spiral of steps he spied a small piece of once melted cheese on the second box which had hardened into a crusty delicious looking morsel.  He quickly popped it into his mouth and devoured it – savouring that delicious crusty taste.

At last!  He arrives at the delivery address – and rings the doorbell, humming in tune to the tell-tale party music that wafted from a nearby window of the flat.   The door is opened and he hands over the pile of pizzas – only to find the customer, a swarthy and well alcohol seasoned gent transfixed with arms outstretched as he held the bundle of pizza boxes just given to him.

As our student come-pizza delivery-boy opened his mouth to ask for payment – it struck him like a bolt from the blue – it was one of those moments where he wished himself a million miles away.

A string of melted cheese stretched from his lower lip to the second box from the top of the pile – which the rather crossly looking client was now holding…

What a string of cheese...... But at least that showed the pizzas were still warm - delivered in time. The poor boy was unlikely to get any tips from the customer, I guess.

Are there pizzas in China?  Do Chinese people know what pizzas are?

Yes, we know. Pizzas and donuts, etc. are available in China.

There are also French, Italian, German, Thai, restaurants here in major cities i.e. Beijing, Shanghai, etc. KFC and  McDonald's are everywhere either big cities or small ones.

China has the biggest population in the world and now she has become the second economy, how could those shrewd tycoons and small business owners possibly miss the market?
