Kelantan joins Sabah, Sarawak and Terengganu is wanting share of oil royalty.

Seems like smart negotiation in now being undertaken to secure more LOCAL GOVERNMENT rights.

This time it appears to be oil and gas royalty.

Well! that's politics!

It does appear the Singapore would be able...

..to rejoin the Malayan-Singapore-Borneo federation once all the reforms are made, and sufficient local government autonomy to SATISFY all parties including Singaporeans without hampering the COMPETITIVE SPIRIT, DIVERSITY of the Federation!

Yup, the date of the formation of Malaysia, 16th September 1963 (happens to be Uncle Lee's birthday too, apparently!)
maybe a date 25th September would be suitable for a re entry of Singapore into the federation as equal and proud member of the Malayan Federations!

A functioning two party system, would allow members of different faction a chance to lead the Federation with sufficient SAFEGUARDs to all the faction members!

Singapore is preparing itself for any eventuality and China is more trusted than the neighbor in the north:

Xinhua

China and Singapore are conducting a joint anti-terrorism training exercise in Guilin in the southwest Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, military sources said Thursday.

The drill, "Cooperation-2009", involves 61 soldiers and officers of the People's Liberation Army and 61 of their Singapore counterparts, Huang Xueping, spokesman with the Ministry of National Defense, told Xinhua.

The exercise started Thursday and will conclude June 26.

The exercise will conduct simulations of an attempt by international terrorists to attack an expo using radioactive contaminants, biological and chemical weapons.

The task forces will conduct joint training and seminars to improve their ability to detect and handle those threats, the spokesman said.
The joint training exercises were arranged by defense authorities of the two countries, and they represent the PLA's first joint operation with foreign forces in security maintenance, Huang said.

The exercise would improve the forces' ability to deal with multiple security threats and help maintain peace and stability in the Asian-Pacific region, he said.

Singapore has a maximum population of only 6.5 million people.

It does not have the POPULATION SCALE to be a real independent nation.
For a medium income state, a population of 30 million is needed.
For a full scale, complete slate of industries, you'll need 60 million population.

Singapore survive by sharing it's state with 2 superpowers, United States and United Kingdom.
Of course, with China's re entry into the world economy, Singapore is buying insurance yet once more by selling chunks of her country to China too! I think the powerplant, singapore petroleum company has been sold to China's Central Government controlled companies.

ie. Like the pipeline guild in Malaya, Singapore is also paralyzed with too many masters!

ha ha ha

With the Malayan Federation, there is a "chance" for self defence and independent action in cooperation with Riau, Central, Patani, and Native factions!

now that's funny!

Shouldn't Malaysia consider introducing a "Easy Rider" motorcyle.

We in Malaya, have a big problem with "MAT REMPIT", this are young hooligans who have "low cost" recreation with acrobatic stunts, and night races on the MOPETs.

This could be a big problem, as it's a nuisance in certain city areas.
Not only that there is a lot of problems associated with the Mopets, including high level of accidents and fatalities (80% of the 6,000 road fatalities is supposed to come from motorcylist, and i wonder how many injured in the 50,000 or so accidents recorded annually in Malaysia.)

The Malayan government, Mr. Huang262, Mr. CaringHK should pay attention, we should BAN the Mopet, and introduce a 4 stroke engine "Easy Rider" motorcycles, 250cc to 500cc. With a market of 500,000 annually, such an action would create a huge boom in scooters, and large bike manufacturing industry, especially the HONG LEONG, BOON SIEW, DRB-HICOM and MODENAS engine making plant in Penang!

That industry has been SCLEROTIC and STATIC for so many years.

A ban, with GOVERNMENT SUBSIDY to help in giving value to MOPET trade in could do wonders to the SAFETY,  Easy rider bikes, like Scooter limits many stunts, and have more protective features. Large scale manufacturing of the big bikes could bring down cost of the bigger bikes like what i saw with HYOSUNG (Korean Made) that cost less than Rmn30,000 each! (and that's imported)

cheerios!

According to your rationale about 40% of the world's nations have no right to exist. Just tell this to the Singaporeans.
