Just wondering what's the progress in Agriculture in our region?

This is my new hobby since the "rice big hoohah show" recently.

Do we have a whole range of seeds in China and the New Middle Kingdom for rice to take advantage for weather changes, and maximized yields.
Do we have climatic predictive models, so that we can choose rice hybrids, growing to harvest time to fit the predicted weather patterns. (Got this idea from Mr. CaringHK little strange tirade on weather an Penang's durian industry.)
It makes nice reading, and give us a scientific idea of the developments in that industry.

Are we mechanizing the agriculture, especially those back breaking rice cultivation.
Eg. Are we now doing MECHANIZED TISSUE culture, instead of doing old "seeding and replanting" method of old. (it needs to be mechanized, otherwise it's cheaper to just do seeding.....seeding is expensive because you need to reserve a big proportion of your harvest to replant!)
There are several TISSUE CULTIVATION companies in Singapore, Malaya supercentre specializing in our commodity plants.
This would allow a range of mechanized planters, harvesters, tractors to works, yet still you need manual weed removal...shucks!

ha ha ha

Are we doing ORGANIC plantation different from Australia, Amerikans, Canadians, Latin Americans?
Could we use NETs, non woven substrate, sanitized natural fertilizers to get the NATURAL ORGANIC foods without lost of agriculture productivity while making other value added business possible..like nets, non wovens, metal scafoldings, ventilation etc.

What do you think?

OUr middle kingdom supercentres would like to enjoy GOOD TASTING natural foods but without lost of  productivity that would hurt our underclass. (the underclass could also buy and consumer less regularly as well.)

cheerios!

There comes a worry over the climate change.

The global warming caused by planetary wobble, has increase rainfall in Malaya.
It has also changed the pattern of dry season/wet season, wrecking havoc on plans for 3 cropping system.
While more rains do wonder for some agricultural crops, it could hamper others. (Thanks to the tip, Mr. caringhk, he is a hotelier/builders but all so knowledgeable)

I am now studying whether we in Malaya have the seeds that can bring big yields in rice during such drastic weather change.
Malayan government should study whether we need to plant alternate crops and possible change diets to ensure food supply is adequate.
