Space exploration is a good thing

Competition in space exploration is a good thing.  There is only so much land and resources available on Earth and with China's rising competitiveness the world needs to expand it's horizon's.  A space station would just be a step towards reaching for the moon and mars and beyond.

FYI, Mencius,  China wanted to cooperate and be a part of the U.S. led "international Space Station", but it was the U.S. which refused to allow China to be part of the project.  And now that station is in limbo (cost and schedule wise) and cannot be depended upon by even the nations which are involved.

build the space station

if you have the ability to do it, by all means do it. learned the lesson of the past
china was a rich country but it became complacent. if you have the means to do it, you must do it, otherwise it is wasted knowledge and loss opportunity.

So make a deal with other countries. The current Chinese plan sounds like having a few "pods" together - it's not nearly as sophisticated as the International Space Station. Why bother work by yourself just to do something so basic?

Or China could simply save the money and invest in developing better space travel technology. Or just spend it on something else.
