but I know you won't accept them.

Stats? What "stats"? Where did you buy them? Why should I trust them? I trust my own eyes more than the published stats and other trivia, Deerie.

I have witnessed how China has been uglified over the years, the fertile green land with orchards, fields and woods sacrificed and covered up by grey, dirty, repulsive concrete. The Pearl River Delta used to be one of the more fertile agricultural bases. Where I bought my apartment there used to be litchee plantations. Today the fruit have to be carted over hundreds of motorway kilometers.

How did China increase its arable land? Did they buy it in other countries? There are rumours according to which the Chinese government has been snapping up land parcels in Africa, Cambodia, Laos to own and to grow agricultural produce for its own consumption. Meanwhile it is merrily ruining its own natural resources...

My eyes see better what China has done to its arable land reseres than those stats can ever show.

I have been witnessing the concreting-over of lush fertile land all over southern China, and watching as everything turned ugly grey, hard, unfriendly.

Just the example of the Pearl River Delta suffices to convince me that those stats are bogus. The PRD was one of the most fertile land areas in Guangdong but today it has been covered under a compact mass of cement and concrete.

A by-product of this uglification are the increasingly more lethal floods due to high precipitations. The litchees that used to grow in lush orchards now come from hundreds of kilometers away.

If you really want to insist that China today disposes over more arable land than before you need to come up with something more factual than your silly stats.

Here is a hint: The Chinese are importing more food than ever, including soybeans from the Americas. China also has been known to snap up land reserve in Cambodia and Africa to use as agricultural bases for China's own needs.

That's not something to ignore. It's a worrying trend!

Looks like you made your mind up.
That is why there is no need to show them to you.
